Here is a single-story house that fits perfectly into the territory of Mediterranean Italy.
It is a one-story house designed to offer its guests the maximum of:
- independence;
- contact with nature;
- conviviality.
The elevation is moved by the dialogue that develops between the volume of the living area and the volume of the sleeping area.
A generous patio equipped with sunshades extended throughout the living area provides a pleasant filter between indoors and outdoors.
The single-story wooden house is always the ideal solution to reduce the visual impact in the area and provide the best accessibility to living spaces. Easily this type of housing comes to blend into the surrounding area shielded by vegetation and land morphology.
A rational wooden house
The volume is divided into living and sleeping areas. In the interior, the two areas are connected by a deep infill extending parallel to the large glazed opening.
The floor plan development is purely linear, and the infill, therefore, constitutes the connective device of the pivotal functions of the house: countertop kitchen, dining area, TV area, laundry room, toilets and rooms.
This floor plan epitomizes the ultimate in distributional rationality by ensuring everything that a discerning occupant today requires:
- Master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet;
- Second room of generous size. It can accommodate a couple or become a studio;
- Relaxation tub under window;
- shower alternative;
- kitchen island;
- Lift and slide sash window;
- Panoramic TV area with peninsula sofa.
A passive house
This house, like all of our productions, is also proposed by complying with the requirements of the Passive House.
Passive houses are houses that provide maximum energy savings by positioning themselves at near-zero consumption levels.
Due to its high insulation, the passive house expects the heating system to be a kind of optional extra. In reality, however, our houses are generally equipped with radiant floor with also cooling function in summer, controlled mechanical ventilation(VMC) in order to always achieve a very high standard of comfort in summer and winter with continuous air exchange without waste.
An earthquake-resistant house
The wooden structure provides a high seismic strength-to-mass ratio, and this therefore allows its inhabitants to be able to live in the absence of concerns about earthquake damage.
More and more seismic events are occurring in Italy in areas of our nation that were not classified as hazardous. This has led to new mapping that has redrawn the Italian geography considering almost all of our country at risk. Seismic risk is not intrinsic to our beautiful territory, instead it pertains to the hazard of so-called traditional buildings.
We cannot stop seismic events in Italy. Wood, however, is the perfect building material that, thanks to its resilient qualities, allows us to look forward to the future with serenity.
A wooden house is ideal for smart working
Following the ominous restrictions imposed by the Covid 19 virus, more and more people have come to appreciate telecommuting or smart working.
Beyond the annoying movement restrictions, however, this event opened the eyes of many Italians to an important reality: many of the things we used to do in the office we can do from home with less waste of resources and greater peace of mind by taking advantage of the possibilities offered by agile work.
The wooden house we propose is an ideal type for those who can work from home:
- surrounded by greenery gives serenity to its occupants;
- equipped with photovoltaics recharges utilities for free;
- allows during work breaks to engage in gardening or leisure activities.
It is therefore the ideal home for spending more time at home without having to go out.
